A Letter From Our Founder
I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Chicago, attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where I graduated in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Biology. I then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago where I graduated with combined MD.-MS. Degrees in 1976.
I did my residency in Ophthalmology at the world-renowned Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary under the leadership of Dr. Morton Goldberg. I completed my residency program in 1980, when I also received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) degree in Pathology.
Throughout my professional career, I have been interested in better ways to deliver quality health care in an efficient and compassionate manner. To that end, I established a unique Quality Assurance Plan for Senior Eye Associates.
I have published numerous scientific and clinical articles, and have delivered more than one hundred lectures for Doctors and allied Professionals on various topics in the eye care field.
Although I no longer perform surgery, I have done more than 10,000 cataract and laser procedures during my career. I have been affiliated with numerous Hospitals and Surgery Centers, including Resurrection and Ravenswood Hospitals and Surgery Centers. I currently continue to see patients and do consultations. I serve as the Medical Director for Senior Eye Associates and personally perform ongoing chart reviews. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and am active in volunteer positions in local organizations.
It is my goal to continue to lead Senior Eye Associates into the future as the premier on-site eye care provider. I take this responsibility with great seriousness, and with care and attention to detail. I always welcome any questions or concerns to be directed to me personally.
Respectfully,
Harold S. Schwartz, MD., PhD.
President and Medical Director
