Q. What is Senior Eye Associates? P.C.

A. A Professional Corporation registered with the secretary of State of Illinois. Owned and operated by optometrists to render eye care to residents of all types of care facilities throughout the State of Illinois.

Q. What days of the week to you provide services?

A. Seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Q. Where are the services provided?

A. All services are delivered on-site in the nursing home or other care facility in Illinois.

Q. Can you provide references?

A. References are always available from Administrators or Directors of Nursing.

Q. Are all your Doctors Medicare Participating Providers?

A. Yes, we accept assignment.

Q. Will the same Doctor always come to our facility?

A. Yes, continuity of care is of utmost importance at Senior Eye Associates.

Q. Are your Doctors Insured?

A. Yes, every Doctor at Senior Eye Associates carries Professional Liability Insurance.

Q. Do your Doctors need to have the residents brought to them?

A. Due to the prevailing HIPAA regulations on privacy conditions, residents must be brought to a designated room with their chart and glasses, if any. The room must be at least eight x ten feet and able to be darkened.

Q. Does the facility have to provide any medical supplies to the Doctor?

A. No, our Doctors carry a complete array of instruments and supplies.

Q. Must a resident covered by Medicare have an authorization for examination to see your Doctor for the first time?

A. Yes, every resident seeing our Doctor for the first time must have an authorization. More information is available in Regulatory Issues.

Q. Does an Ophthalmologist need to see our residents after the Optometrist examines them?

A. Ordinarily that is completely unnecessary and a duplication of services. Only when the problem is outside the scope of practice of the Optometrist does the resident need a consultation from an Ophthalmologist.

Q. I am an Administrator for several facilities. Can you provide services to all our homes?

A. Yes, we currently serve facilities belonging to several multi-facility ownership situations.

Q. Can you come to a central location to see our residents of several group homes?

A. Yes, Senior Eye serves many such facilities.

Q. Some of our residents are covered by Medicare, others by Medicaid, and still others by private insurance. Will you accept those plans?

A. Senior Eye Associates accepts all fee-for-service plans, with no financial burden or paperwork to the facility.

Q. Are we responsible if the insurance company fails to pay you for a resident’s exam or other service?

A. No, the facility is never responsible for unpaid claims. The facility never pays for anything.

Q. What happens if a resident needs to be seen between scheduled visits?

A. Senior Eye routinely comes to a facility once every month. Should an emergency arise between visits, the resident will be seen in a timely fashion by any available Doctor.
